Wladyslaw Zeff Hanower passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on August 17th at the age of 62. Zeff was born in Stalingrad, Russia, was raised in Poland and graduated from the College of Wroclaw with a degree as an electro technician. He came to the US in 1969, settled in Boston and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 34 years. Mr. Hanower designed & built book-binding equipment, was in charge of maintenance, new equipment and was service manager for the Acme Book Binding Company of Charlestown for the past 20 years. While living in Poland he served in the Polish Army and he spoke several languages. Zeff was the husband of Pamela J. (Grande) Hanower. Brother of Guta Kitzis & her husband Isaak of Brighton, Bronislawa Polak & Jadwiga Lemanczyk both of Poland. Brother-in-law of Pat DAnna of Somerville and Adrienne Grande of Melrose. Uncle of Anna Kitzis of Brighton, Frank & Michael DAnna both of Somerville. Marek, Michal and Artur all of Poland. A Memorial Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Aug. 20th at 5:00PM. Followed by a gathering at Anthonys Restaurant, Canal St. Malden, at 6:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00PM prior to the service.
